Thoughts from the Artist

The Jenna Lee

Posted by William Burnham on June 6, 2018

“The Jenna Lee”  There is something about a fishing boat that always catches my attention. The Jenna Lee in Hyannis Harbor is no exception. There is a lot of character in these vessels along with a lot of stories.

Joy

Posted by William Burnham on April 11, 2018

“Joy”    After being so close while painting this, I really didn’t get to appreciate it’s beauty until I was away from it for a period of time. Once viewing it again I realized what joy it gave me. Flowers are beautiful, but flowers up close are amazing.

Low Tide

Posted by William Burnham on

“Low Tide”    Oh, that mid-day sky.  Such beautiful shades of Cyan blue.  Almost makes you overlook the skiff resting so peacefully on the sand. Makes you want to pop open an umbrella and read a good book, or if you’re an artist, set up an easel and start painting.

The Cottage

Posted by William Burnham on January 19, 2018

“The Cottage”    Doesn’t this just tell a story. Waking up at the cottage to a beautiful summer day in the wilderness. No time for tidying up the bed, we have trails to discover.

Time Out

Posted by William Burnham on

“Time Out”    Seeing that all the other boats were out playing at sea, seeing this sailboat all by itself made me think it was given a time out.

Skaket Sunset

“Skaket Sunset”    What a beautiful summer evening this was, warm air blowing across your face, ocean so calm and the life guard stand ready for another fun filled day at the beach.

Early Morning Flight

Posted by William Burnham on December 12, 2016

“Early Morning Flight”    Every time I’ve driven by the airport, I’ve always admired this DC3. This one morning, just as the sun was coming up over the tree line, I caught this image which I couldn’t wait to paint.

Nauset Sunset

Posted by William Burnham on

“Nauset Sunset”  I’ve always loved the beauty of waves on the shoreline. Even though the sunset was actually off to the left, I wanted to capture the subtle beauty of the waves reflecting bits of the sunset’s color. There are so many different colors in the water as it gets closer to the shore.
